Kekkei Genkai:
The Tsuchi Doobutsu is one of the animal based bloodlines in the Shinobi Nations. However, it does not need a partner animal as they become a hybrid of two animals. Stage one is just small changes, at best. Their skin becomes harder, their hair becomes half and half, and their eyes become purely a color represented with one of their animals. Their nails become sharper as do their teeth. When they advance to stage two, the hair becomes whole of the one color representing an animal they chose. Their skin hardens even more, gaining more of a crystal like sheen. Their left and right eyes become different from each other, one of one animal, the other of another. Stage Three is when it gets interesting. Their skin becomes covered in a crystal skin, and they grow a tail of a jewel or rock, it is, at times, random. They become more and more like a hybrid of their animals
The Tsuchi Doobutsu hones a Maruishi clan member to their surroundings and to animal instincts, to train their senses. Their strength and agility increase depending on the animals they pick. From there, other attributes may be increased, or added to the Maruishi clan member. Not many have reached Stage Three, as it has its requirements that are yet to be known. Rumors are that you must kill a loved one within the clan, some say is you must kill the animals you are to be merging attributes in Stage 3, and wear a combined hide for the first time. What is known is that if anyone faces any of them in Stage 3, it’ll be a death wish for the person facing the Maruishi clan member.
A common misconception with many not knowing the ancient days of the Maruishi is that there are real animals involved. That is incorrect, as the third stage's coming is just rumors, but as of the information stands, there is not yet a need for animals
Clan History:
Started as a nomadic clan, the Maruishi clan was a peaceful, strategic clan. When the villages started up, they saw fit to start with Iwagakure. They were quick to populate the village, and began to teach many the peaceful ways they had. However, one Maruishi, named Genryuu, was wanting blood to be shed. Note that this was just the start of Iwagakure at the time. Genryuu started a small war, but it got what he wanted. The village and the clan was in dissaray. None knew that Genryuu had done this for his own deeds. Genryuu had stepped up as the first leader, and so he did.
But, there were those wanting him dead, his cruelty would not go without the truth and punishment. When Genryuu was 40, the truth finally came out and he was punished serverely. Now the Maruishi clan was at peace as they waited for the Nidiame Tsuchikage. The Maruishi clan became a secluded clan for a while, then the Nidiame Tsuchikage was annouced, and it was a more repsectful man. The Maruishi clan came alive again, and began helping out the village. They became a well respected clan for awhile. However, there was a bad seed about to be born.
Near the Nidiame Tsuchikage's third year in, a new child was born, his name was Kazuki, and he seemed to be a nice child. As he grew up, he secretly had a dark agenda like his great grandfather Genryuu. He grew up and trained, before he and a group of people he gathered tried to assassinate the Nidiame Tsuchikage. They failed, and for treason, were executed. Many Maruishi were shocked that history was sort of repeating. They drew back again from the village's society, and were seen somewhat as a clan with a knack for the bad seeds.
When the Sandaime Tsuchikage came in, war followed not too long after, but it was with Konohagakure. Maruishi members joined into the war, their numbers at the time over 200. As the war raged, the numbers began to dwindle, thanks to the Yellow Flash, Namikaze Minato. The Maruishi elders had to make a decision and quick. They knew drawing from the war would make their name worse, but they had to find some way against the Yellow Flash and losing numbers. But, they decided to keep fighting in the end, earning back respect for the Maruishi clan. But as the war progressed, their numbers dropped like flies.
As the war ended, they had barely 30 members left. They kept to their area of Iwagakure to recover. The respect level was up now, and they helped make some changes after they recovered. By now, the Sandaime Tsuchikage was in his prime. Years passed in peace and then the new child prodigy was born, Maruishi Daiki. The clan treated him with high respect, and he was loved. Then the events happened with the parents and the clan was shocked.
Slowly, the old began to die, dwindling numbers more. The elders still alive began to help Daiki when they could. Their numbers still dwindled down to 16 or so by the time Daiki returned from the exams. But new generations were being born and finally they settled down at 18, with no deaths coming in. The elders continued to help Daiki train in the bloodline and the jutsus, and finally they were proud when he became the Tsuchikage.
